Laser Therapy is a quantum leap in the treatment of periodontal disease.
If you have mild or moderate gum disease, Laser therapy could be for you. the benefits of laser therapy are: increased comfort, effectiveness, reduced post operative recovery time and results.
Laser is a gentle, conservative and non-invasive alternative to old-fashioned non-laser methods. Using a laser that kills up to 99% of gum disease causing bacteria is an exciting option to offer our patients.
Laser periodontal gum treatment:
- Saves gum tissue
- There is no cutting or stitches.
- No cutting and stitches translates to virtually no pain
- There is no significant recovery time – so you won't need time off of work or other activities
Laser dentistry is a method of destroying organisms and proteins that cause disease. These organisms have no way to fight the effects of the laser, so there's none of the immunity that is sometimes seen with antibiotic treatment.
Retaining nearly all the gum tissue results in less loss of tooth and bone structure than surgery. In fact a positive side effect of laser periodontal gum surgery is that in many cases regeneration and reattachment of the gum tissue to the tooth and bone is possible. This is never seen in non-laser methods for periodontal surgery.
